Does anyone have Pictures of the isolation placement of a original 620 cab?
When I redid the fiber glass in my homebuilt cabinets, I carefully tore 6" batts in half, stapled it on and then spayed a misting of rubberized spray coating (as seen on TV to seal up that boat) to keep those pesky glass shards from floating out of the port. The stuff I used was clear Rustolium rubberized spray found at Walmart.
At last finished.
Will test them tomorrow as there was no time today. Real happy how i manage to complete a dream since i was a kid and my father and his friend had Votts.
A thread is always better with pictures so here is one without the front cover.
Had a proper listening session today.
Tested;
Yo-Yo ma - Mission
Dire straits - You and your friend
Tool - the pot
Clutch - Son of Virginia
Rammstein - Los
Norah Jones - Seven years
I must say holy cow does voices sounds good or what. Snare drums, guitars everything sounds dynamic and rich. The bigger cabs does a lot to the bass.
I think i will live with this setup many years to come. Also going from 900 hz to 1200 hz was a good descision. Much smoother and warmer in my opinion.
So after a couple of Days listening I am more and more satisfied with the smooth sound from the Horns. A lot of friends have been over for listening sessions now and they all agree that It?s a Life like sound these speakers presents.
If I compare them to my previous Dynaudio speakers these Altecs offers a much sweeter listening impression. The Dynaudios was accurate a Little bit to analytic and hard. These are just sweet and massive. Offers hours of listening without getting tired.
I also upgraded with a descent DAC to the tube amp and that made the whole soundstage a lot better. The bass feels more sturdy now and It?s a joy to listen to big Orchestras playing thru the Altecs.
The front ends are also in Place now for protection against small fingers.
